There are multiple ways of becoming a member of our Union. From joining one of our apprenticeship programs with having no experience in our industry to taking an evaluation at a Local Union to become a Journeyman if you have 5+ years of experience in the trade and anywhere between. Once you become a member you have the ability to travel the country chasing turn arounds in the heavy industrial industry with other union brothers and sisters having all your Benefits being sent back to your home local. If traveling isn't for you, we have plenty of commercial projects locally around our four states we cover.
Training
We Specialize in training our members to the highest-level using state of the art equipment, extremely knowledgeable instructors to teach, guide and mentor you on your journey through the apprenticeship. Even our journeyman members get free training for whatever skill/Certification they're wanting to obtain and continuing education at our apprenticeship schools.
Description: Training programs consist of classroom instruction (Two nights per week, two semester per year) and on the job training. Apprentices earn raises every six months through completion of courses and excelling in job performance. Upon successful completion of the five-year program, the Apprentices become Journeyman as Pipe Welders, Plumbers, Pipefitters, or A/C Service Technicians. (All licenses and certifications are obtained prior to completion)
More Information: When you are planning to apply for the program, be sure to bring: a valid driver’s license, your social security card, a certified copy of your birth certificate and your high school diploma with transcript or GED certificate with test scores. Also, if you have military experience, bring a copy of your DD214. Advanced placement for documented previous work and training experience will be considered. (Ask for details)
Reliable transportation is necessary because of job locations.
TRAINING Plumbing, Welding, Blueprint Interpretation, Computer, Drafting, Air Conditioning, Electrical, Refrigeration, and Rigging are some of the technical training courses that are offered. Safety training is integrated into every course. All accepted students will be enrolled with the Washtenaw Community College. Students that successfully complete courses will earn college credits that can be used towards an Associate’s Degree in Construction Supervision.
Program Qualifications:
You must have your own mode of transportation (car, truck, etc.)
You must be at least 18 years of age. You must be a US Citizen or legally allowed to be working in the United States.

WORK EXPERIENCE: If you have any experience in plumbing, pipe fitting, air conditioning, be sure to provide that information while completing the application. Advanced placement may be possible depending on experience.
